LA-CCI is an acronym that refers to the Latin America Congress on Computational Intelligence (CI) that includes Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru and Venezuela all of them with plenty of research groups in CI eager to develop the area and exchange experiences/personnel. The 1st LA-CCI Congress on Computational Intelligence (LA-CCI 2014 – is an endeavor that teams up research groups and communities of these Countries around Computational Intelligence. The first LA-CCI (of a series) will be held San Carlos de Bariloche, Argentina from June 12th-13th, 2014, alongside the 2nd ARGENCON IEEE (Argentinean Congress of IEEE, June 11th-13th, 2014). The objective of LA-CCI 2014 is to provide a high-level international forum for scientists, researchers, engineers, and educators to disseminate their latest research results and exchange views of the future research directions on Neural & Learning Systems, Fuzzy & Stochastic Modeling, Evolutionary & Swarm Computation, and their related applications.

The organizing steering committee of 1st LA-CCI cares much about future researchers that will integrate the organization of this meeting, thus the congress will include Country panels, alongside the Congress. As an additional self-imposed responsibility because of the fact of being the first LA-CCI scientific Congress ever, the organizers found important to gather other scholars, government officials and funding agencies representatives to discuss institutional approaches, internationalization policies and funding mechanisms that could be proposed specially for Latin America Countries.

The organization of the Congress would like encourage the participation of established scientists but also young researchers and advanced students, those not only from Latin America Countries but from other Continents. It is important to notice that our Congress is organized by LA-CCI Countries but aims both at the regional as well as at the international scientific community. Last, but not least, it is worth to state our main goals, namely:

(i) To be a notch scientific forum in Latin America;

(ii) To be a regional hub of CI practitioners and professionals;

(iii) To be a privileged show-case of CI to industry;

(iv) To be a springboard for students;

(v) To publicize CI research going on within LA-CCI Countries;

(vi) To encourage CI research links to the LA-CCI Countries;

(vii) To foster academic mobility in LA-CCI and beyond; and,

(viii) To promote Science & Culture for Latin America.
